Simply put, a Boulevardier is a Negroni with the gin replaced by whiskey, usually bourbon or rye. Some recipes I've seen up the proportion of whiskey, but so far I've been happy with the taste and simplicity of 1:1:1 proportions and a decent rye. This drink will surprise you with its bright, clear color and intriguing balance of sweet and bitter, herbs and citrus.
1 oz rye or bourbon
1 oz sweet vermouth (Antica or Dolin by preference)
1 oz Campari
1 twist orange peel
In an Old Fashioned glass add ice, the Campari, vermouth, and rye. Stir gently to mix and chill. Squeeze the orange peel over the cocktail to release the oils and brush around the rim of the glass. Drop the peel into the glass for garnish.
